Netgear Extender model EX2700 is small and easy to connect networking device. You can set it up wirelessly. From this post, you will learn the whole NETGEAR EX2700 Wi-Fi Range Extender setup and configuration. So, let’s dive into this informative guide.
Netgear EX2700 Setup Guide
There are three major methods that you can use to connect Netgear EX2700 to WiFi with your WiFi router. Let’s learn them quickly.
EX2700 Physical WPS Setup
Find a plug somewhere midway between your router and the dead zone. You can move it later. Plug your EX2700 into the wall socket. The light on the extender will turn amber, then green, if it doesn’t light up at all, check the wall outlet.
- Look for a button labeled WPS on your router. You should need a paperclip. It usually has an icon that looks like two arrows in a circle. Hold off pressing it for now.
- On the Netgear EX2700, there’s a WPS button on the left side. Press and hold it for 2 seconds. The WPS LED on the front will start blinking green. That means it’s searching for your router’s signal.
- Right after the EX2700’s WPS LED starts blinking, head to your router and press its WPS button.
- If they’re connecting to each other, the EX2700’s WPS light will stop blinking and go solid green. That means you’re connected.
Now, you can connect with the extended WiFi using the router’s SSID username and password.
Netgear Extender Setup without WPS (Manual Setup)
First off, plug the extender into a power outlet. Not next to your router and not too far either. Once plugged in, wait about a minute. The Power LED should turn solid green or amber. Now grab your computer or laptop. Open your WiFi settings and select network named: NETGEAR_EXT.
- Open your browser. In the address bar, type: mywifiext.net or 192.168.1.250 Hit enter to search.
- You should now see a Netgear setup screen. If you don’t, double-check you’re connected to the NETGEAR_EXT network. You’ll land on the “New Extender Setup” page. Click that. Then create a login (username and password).
- Once you’re in, the extender will scan for nearby WiFi networks.
- You’ll then see a list of all the WiFi networks around you. Find your main WiFi network, click it. Enter your WiFi password. Then continue.
- You’ll now be asked to name your new extended network. By default, it’ll add “_EXT” to your main WiFi name, hit next. The extender will now link to your router. This takes about 30-60 seconds.
- Once it’s done, it’ll tell you to reconnect your devices to the new extended network. Use the same WiFi password unless you changed it in the setup.
Nighthawk App Setup
At first, you need to download the Nighthawk app from the App Store or Play Store. Then, to complete the setup, follow these steps:
- Start with accessing the app through the MyNetgear account and select the Range extender option to start the setup.
- Search the host router & connect with it by selecting and entering its WiFi password.
- On the next page, you will get instructions to connect with the extender network and then you can change its SSID username and password.
- After that, just finish the setup and connect with your new extended network.
