Netgear A6210 Adapter – Installation and Management

Along with WiFi routers and extenders, Netgear manufactures WiFi adapters too. A WiFi USB adapter performs the operation of overriding the computer’s built-in WiFi functionality so that you can get a reliable connection to available networks through the USB port. This blog will particularly talk about the Netgear A6210 adapter setup and management.

How to Install Netgear A6210 Adapter?

The steps to install the USB WiFi adapter from Netgear are given below. You can also complete Netgear extender setup via Netgear_ext network after installing an adapter. However, before that, confirm that you have received a desktop dock and a resource CD with your A6210 WiFi adapter.

  • Switch on your computer and insert the Resource CD in the CD drive.
  • Wait for the CD to run.
  • If the Resource CD screen does not open, find Autorun.exe and double-click to run it.
  • You will now see the Netgear Resource CD screen.
  • Click the Setup button.
  • The Software Update Check screen will open now.
  • To install the setup software, you have two options.
  • If you are connected to the internet, select Check for Updates, click Continue to reach the Welcome screen.
  • If you are not connected to the internet, select Install from CD and you will see the Welcome screen.
  • Accept the license agreement by clicking I agree radio button.
  • Select Next.
  • Wait until the software gets installed.
  • Insert your adapter once Netgear Genie prompts you to do that.
  • Now, you can install the adapter with or without dock.
  • If you want to use a desktop dock, put the adapter in the dock and connect the USB cable to the computer.
  • In case you do not want to use the desktop dock for installation, directly insert the adapter into the PC’s USB port.
  • Return to the Netgear Genie screen and click Next.
  • You will see a list of wireless networks available in the area.
  • If you do not see the list, select Join a Network button.
  • Choose the wireless network and click Connect.
  • Enter the password.
  • The adapter will join the network.
  • Your settings are saved in the profile.

How to Check Connection Status after Connecting Netgear A6210 Adapter?

During the adapter’s installation process, the Netgear Genie icon appears on the Windows system tray. If you want to connect to a different network like that you created after Netgear router setup, you can double-click the Netgear Genie icon to make changes. The color of the icon tells you whether you are getting a good connection or poor:

  • White light with 3 to 5 bars means you have a strong internet connection.
  • Yellow light with 1-2 bars indicate a weak connection.
  • In case the light is red and there are zero bars, it means no internet connection is there.

Know that once you remove the adapter, the Netgear Genie won’t be available. Hence, you will not be able to see its icon. The icon will appear again if you re-insert the adapter.

The Concluding Thought

That is all about Netgear A6210 installation. We assume that you will be able to install your WiFi USB adapter using the aforementioned instructions. Just in case your PC does not have a CD driver, you need to download the Resource CD driver from the Netgear support site.

You can also install the adapter as a Standalone driver. Just run the Resource CD, select Install Windows Standalone Driver and walk through the on-screen prompts.
